Dear Editor,
Despite high literacy rate and growing number of graduates, job opportunities are extremely limited in Nagaland. Government positions (jobs) are few, and way to go in the private sector. This forces many young people to migrate to other states in search of better employment opportunities, leading to a drain of talent and frustration among the youths of the state.
The root cause of this issue lies in the absence of industrial development and a long-term economic planning. Nagaland, with its rich cultural heritage and natural resources, has underused potential in sectors like eco-tourism, agriculture-based industries, information technology, and small-scale industries. However, due to inadequate infrastructure, policy inconsistency, and bureaucratic authority, investors and entrepreneurs remain hesitant.
What Nagaland needs is a comprehensive, youth-centric economic strategy that encourages entrepreneurship, and encourage investment. Government schemes must be made more accessible, particularly in rural and tribal regions where the need is the greatest.
I appeal to the concerned authorities through your respected platform to take proactive steps to address this challenge. The future of the youth and prosperity of Nagaland depends on timely and decisive action.
Thank you for your time and for offering a platform where voices like mine can be heard.
Yours sincerely,
