DIMAPUR — The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) on Friday clarified that no decision has been taken on a reported merger with the Naga People’s Front (NPF) under the “Cock” symbol.
Responding to a news item published in a local daily on September 5, the party said that the merger proposal was placed before its president only on September 2.
“The party is yet to meet and discuss this and therefore, the NDPP till date has under no equivocal terms ‘cleared the decks to effect the merger,’” the NDPP stated.

The party maintained that it functions under its constitution and the democratic process as mandated by the Election Commission of India. It informed that a meeting of the Central Executive Board (CEB) would be convened soon to deliberate on the proposal.
“It is therefore requested that till such time an official decision of the NDPP is issued, all speculations and doubts be kindly laid to rest,” it stated.
