Dimapur, July 17 (EMN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) was flabbergasted by the statement of the NDPP in which it had mischievously quoted that the leader of the opposition (LOP) and former chief minister TR Zeliang as saying “the truth” and that the NLA speaker had done fairly for the first of its kind which was never done in the past.

NPF, in a statement issued by its press bureau, clarified that what the LOP actually meant and intended was that the NLA speaker had done fairly as far as the procedural aspect of the trial was concerned and accused the NDPP of twisting to their advantage.

NPF, on behalf of the LOP and former chief minister, also clarified that what the LOP in his statement had said was that the proceeding of the case was done in the right manner but never said that justice was delivered by the speaker. It added that the LOP also wanted to convey to the masses that for the first time in the history of the NLA, the speaker had followed the due process of law with respect to conducting the trial of the disqualification case in which the speaker had given both the parties fair chance of hearing and examination of witnesses. It stated that whether conducting a trail by following procedure and the decision recorded in contrary to the facts and law was to be looked into for ready reference.

“The party opines that the records of the case speaks volumes wherein, it is now a matter of record that an MLAs who were facing disqualification refuses to say under which party ticket he contested the election, refuses to identify his photo published in the newspaper, refuses that they have not replied to the show cause notice served by the party but the records speaks contra,” the statement read.

NPF stated that the question arose whether the speaker had rightly appreciated the facts, evidences in consonance with the settled process of law while recording the judgement is a matter which should be looked by the court at the relevant time.

Meanwhile, the NPF stated that it has been observing whenever the relationship of NDPP becomes sour with its alliance BJP as the NDPP has the habit of branding NPF and Congress alliance in the state in every statement. It stated that such cheap politics was nothing but just a tool to convince the BJP central leaders and to win over the sentiments of the BJP high command.

To put the matter at rest, the NPF stated that during the last Lok Sabha election, it had taken a stand to lend a one-time issue based support to the Congress candidate. It further clarified that by going together in the election would not change the stand of the party regionalism nor would it reflect as an alliance partner with them.
