Multiple organisations in Nagaland condemn the alleged sexual assault of a minor girl in Dimapur and demand swift justice.

DIMAPUR — Several organisations have strongly condemned the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old minor girl in Dimapur and demanded a thorough, impartial, and swift investigation to ensure justice for the survivor.
ENPUM: The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Union Mokokchung (ENPUM) expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with the survivor and her family.
In a statement, the union urged law enforcement agencies and concerned authorities to conduct a fair, impartial, and thorough investigation. They stated that such an act is a grave violation of human dignity and the rights of a child, and the accused must face the full force of the law if found guilty.
NMA: The Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) condemned the assault and called for a thorough investigation of all persons allegedly involved. The association assured the victim and her family of full support, reiterating the minor’s right to privacy, and urged the state government to make her safety, rehabilitation, and counselling a top priority.

Watsü Mungdang: The Watsü Mungdang expressed deep concern following the arrest of the second accused. The organisation demanded a time-bound investigation, stating that crimes against children are an attack on the fabric of society and cannot be tolerated under any circumstance.
WYLA: The Western Yimkhiung Liberü Arihako (WYLA) expressed outrage over the alleged rape and sexual assault, appealing to law-enforcing agencies to conduct a fast-track investigation and deliver swift justice without compromise.
KMHD: The Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam Dimapur (KMHD) unit described the act as a grave violation of a child's fundamental rights, dignity, and safety. It called upon judicial authorities to act with urgency, urging community leaders and institutions to abandon silence and complicity.
YAA: The Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako (YAA) voiced deep concern over the assault against the minor. The YAA stated that offences against children cannot be condoned or ignored under any pretext, regardless of social standing, and affirmed that any effort to shield those responsible will be firmly opposed.
IHRC: The International Human Rights Council (IHRC) Nagaland State Chapter expressed deep anguish over the incident, noting the severe psychological impact and trauma on the victim.
The IHRC appreciated the swift action of the Dimapur Police in arresting the second accused and the local court's decision to deny anticipatory bail to the main accused. The council urged the state government to ensure the best possible medical attention and necessary compensation for the family, calling upon society to introspect on the erosion of values and find solutions to prevent such criminal depravity.
