
Dimapur, Aug. 1 (EMN): The Red Ribbon Club of Mokokchung College of Teacher Education organised an awareness programme on HIV/AIDS on July 29 at Straightway Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung.
An update from the college stated that the event was conducted on the theme “Stigma is an enemy of HIV/AIDS.” The event was organised with an aim to sensitise the students on stigma that is prevalent towards victims of HIV/AIDS and to promote a positive attitude towards the same.
It stated that the significance of the day was delivered by the assistant professor and nodal officer of RRC, MCTE, Imtimenla.
Prepared speech competition on the theme “I am HIV positive” was conducted for the students of classes 9 and 10 students and an essay writing competition for classes 11 and 12 students on the theme, “Standing up to stigma” followed by declaration of results and prize distribution.
Meanwhile, the principal of Straightway HSS, Sentiyangla, has expressed gratitude to the club for organising the programme.
