DIMAPUR — Mahila Kisan Diwas 2026 was observed on Thursday at the conference hall of the Directorate of Agriculture in Kohima, with the Department of Agriculture and the State Nodal Office, Extension Reforms (ATMA), jointly organising the programme to recognise the contributions of women farmers.
The celebration was held in commemoration of the International Year of the Woman Farmer (IYWF) 2026 under the theme, “Empowered Women, Transforming Agrifood System,” according to an update.

He said Mahila Kisan Diwas aims to recognise, honour and empower the significant contributions of women farmers to agriculture, allied sectors and rural economies.
He also urged women to participate actively in society to promote progressive development.
Chüsi emphasised the need to promote women-centric technologies, facilitate access to microfinance and encourage the formation of women-led Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs).
