Kohima, Sep. 17 (EMN): Nagaland men's basketball team was overpowered by host Mizoram 89 - 58 to secure the third position in the 72nd National Senior Basketball (NE-Zonal) held at Aizawl, Mizoram.
Nagaland defeated Assam with the slim margin of 79 to 76 in their first game but they were overwhelmed by Meghalaya 83 - 73 in their second match on September 15.
Mizoram emerged as the champions, while Meghalaya came in second position while Nagaland had to contend with third at the end of the competition.
12 men and women players each were selected during the recently concluded Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games 2022 to represent the state in the competition at Mizoram.
The state men's team was led by Medozhatuo Rutsa as the head coach, Alirenba Aier L as the assistant coach and Thejanguzo Titus Pienyü as the manager.
On the other hand, the women's team was led by Vilahetuo Belho as the coach, Kivi Swu as the assistant coach and Keneisalie Belho as the team manager.
