KOHIMA — The
Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) unanimously passed two bills on the third
day of the ongoing sixth session on Thursday. The two bills were introduced on
March 4.
The two bills namely The Nagaland Town and Country Planning
(Fourth Amendment) Bill, 2025, moved by Chief Minister, Dr. Neiphiu Rio, and
The Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (Validation) Bill, 2025,
moved by Deputy Chief Minister, TR Zeliang, were unanimously passed by voice
vote.
Chief Minister, Dr. Neiphiu Rio, also moved two government
bills namely ‘The Rules for Administration of Justice and Police in Nagaland
(Fifth Amendment) Bill, 2025’ and ‘The Nagaland Work-Charged and Casual Employees
Regulation (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025,’which were introduced and considered.
The two bills would be put to a vote on March 7, if no
amendment is sought by Thursday evening.
Furthermore, the chief minister also laid the following
reports/ rules namely The Nagaland Food Processing Industries Policy (NFPIP);
The Nagaland Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Rules,
2024; Rules for Administration of Urban Station Committees: Nagaland 2024;
Nagaland New and Renewable Energy Service Rules, 2018; and The Nagaland
Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Rules, 2024.
Meanwhile, Health minister P Paiwang Konyak presented to the
house a copy of ‘The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules for Excluded Areas,
Assam, 2025, in force in the state of Nagaland,’ while the minister of
Parliamentary Affairs, KG Kenye, laid on the table a copy of ‘The Sixth report
of the Rules Committee (2024-2025).’
