Nagaland leaders Y Patton and S Toiho Yeptho condole the demise of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

DIMAPUR — Deputy Chief Minister (Home and Border Affairs) Y Patton and the Deputy Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, S Toiho Yeptho, have expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar.
In a condolence message, Patton stated that Pawar was a senior public figure who devoted many years to public service and governance. He noted that Pawar held important responsibilities in the Government of Maharashtra and was closely associated with the development of the state.
Patton recalled Pawar as a leader who “remained connected to the people and carried out his duties with a strong sense of responsibility”. He added that his contribution to public life and administration will be remembered.

Patton extended condolences to the bereaved family members and supporters.
In a separate message, Deputy Speaker S Toiho Yeptho expressed pain at the demise of Pawar on January 28 in Baramati.
Yeptho described Pawar as a six-time deputy chief minister whose life was marked by an “unwavering commitment to public welfare”. He highlighted that Pawar was elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Baramati A/C for the first time in 1995 and represented the constituency through successive terms.
Yeptho noted that Pawar held key portfolios, including Irrigation, Water Resources, and served as the Guardian Minister of Pune district. He stated that as deputy chief minister and cabinet minister for Finance and Planning, Pawar emerged as a “seasoned statesman and an influential pillar of governance”.
Recalling his personal association, Yeptho said, “I had the privilege of being closely associated with him, and I will always cherish the warmth, guidance, and affection he extended to me. To many of us, he was not just a leader but ‘Dada’, a figure of strength, compassion, and inspiration.”
He extended condolences to the bereaved family, colleagues, and supporters.
