Dimapur, July 12 (EMN): A baseline survey on doubling of farmers’ income in adopted village Yimchalu was conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Mokokchung, on July 12 at the village community hall.
Samuel Sangtam, ACTO Agronomy, gave a brief highlight on doubling of farmers’ income by 2022 - a national flagship programme initiated by the Prime Minister of India.
He stated that the baseline survey was important for all the stakeholders, agri-allied departments to achieve the targets within a stipulated time. He also highlighted on the different agriculture activities to be taken up in coming days. He emphasised that the old existing practice could be strengthened through application of new technologies.
Addressing the gathering, Tekawati Walling, village council chairman, urged upon the farming community to adopt the latest technologies which are available with the KVK in the district. He also acknowledged Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Mokokchung, for selecting Yimchalu village as doubling farmers’ income village in the district.
He further encouraged KVK scientists and other field functionaries to play active role in reaching out to all the villages to achieve its target.
