  • DIMAPUR — Kohima Police have issued a public advisory announcing a crackdown on unauthorised vehicle modifications, effective immediately.

  • It warned that any alteration deviating from the manufacturer's original specifications is a violation of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, and related regulations.

  • According to the advisory, specific prohibited modifications include exhaust system modifications, particularly in two-wheelers; retrofitting excessively bright or non-standard LED lights; installation of sirens or blinkers without proper authorisation; and applying tinted films to windshields and windows that reduce visibility.

  • “Kohima Police will intensify enforcement against these violations and rigorously enforce these provisions in the coming days. Any vehicle found contravening the Act will be liable to seizure, and the owner/operator will face legal consequences as prescribed by law,” it warned.
