
Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): In an effort to curb the menace of using abusive substances and to control the rise of gang or group fight in the locality, the Jail Ward Public Union (JWPU) in Kiphire town has adopted certain resolutions during an emergency meeting held on September 21 at Kiphire public ground.
While upholding the resolution of the Joint Coordination Committee on August 26 last under the banner of Kiphire Town GBs’ Union, JWPU resolved that no resident from the ward would be allowed to grow/ plant ganja within its jurisdiction. The union resolved to destroy such plantation without any notice and also penalise with a fine of INR 1500 against the defaulters, stated a JWPU press release jointly issued by its executive chairman, Yanglitong, and the chairman, Thritsali Sangtam.
The union also resolved that anyone found creating problem or disturbing the peaceful environment of the ward under the influence of intoxication would be penalised with a fine or strict action or both according to his/her case.
It resolved that anyone found selling, buying or using illegal drugs would be immediately expelled/ excommunicated from the ward and forwarded for further necessary action to the concerned authority.
The house has strongly denounced youth/ children forming a gang or group and creating unwanted situation in the town. It warned that such menace would not be tolerated and initiate strict action against the defaulters as per the customary law, which might even invite for an expulsion from the ward.
In order to check anti-social elements, it resolved that youth with more than five persons would not be allowed to loiter around after 7 pm without any valid reason.
With an objective to protect public properties, the house also resolved to check the east side of the public ground gallery and initiate strict action against anyone found creating nuisance inside the gallery. The union also decided to put up a notice not to stay inside the gallery after 7 pm.
In order to check anti-social activities in the ward, the house resolved to form a jail ward vigilant team comprising 10 members from six zones under jail ward.
