Nagaland is rich but Nagas are poor — Gov

Dimapur, June 23 (EMN): Nagaland is rich, however Nagas are poor, said the governor of Nagaland PB Acharyan during an interaction with the department heads of Kohima district. Stating that Nagaland has potential with many talented people in various fields, he urged the officers to change their mind set and march ahead for better tomorrow. The governor had an interaction with the head of departments of Kohima district to review various departmental performance and activities at Raj Bhavan Durbar Hall in Kohima on June 22, DIPR on Saturday updated. During an interaction, departments’ performances, requirements, capacity and plans were said to have deliberated. Governor stressed on the implementation of various projects and issues relating to road maintenance, electricity, water supply, agri and allied sector etc. Stating that district officers are the pillars for development in the district, Acharya called on the officers to contribute their services with humanity in their respective areas to strengthen the society and to bring more development in the district. Pointing out that education is one of the most important sector to strengthen the society, the governor asked the concerned department to take note on irregularities of teachers and also implementation of mid day meal for better performance in future. The governor appealed the officers to reach out to the poorest of poor and enlighten them on the availability of various central and state flagship programme and also to identify the beneficiaries to avail the opportunities for the uplift of the poor people. Acharya also urged them to motivate their own departmental staffs to contribute their services in their respective areas for the uplift of the society. Deputy Commissioner Kohima Rajesh Soundararajan and Sr. SP Kohima Vekhosa Chakhesang were also present in the meeting besides head of departments.
