Dimapur, May 18 (EMN): The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) on Friday announced the results of High School Leaving Certificate (class 10) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate exams.
In HSLC exam, Vivotsonuo Sorhie of Mezhür Higher Secondary School, Kohima emerged the topper with 98.33%. Nineteen students shared the top 10 slots in HSLC result. According to the NBSE, 14335 HSLC candidates qualified out of 21715 with a success percentage of 66.01%.
“The girls have again done better with 7448 girls qualifying and 6887 boys qualifying the examination. In the top 20 list, there are 37 candidates out of which only 12 are boys and the rest i.e. 25 are girls.
“63 schools secured 100% qualified/pass percentage. Out of 63, 54 are private schools and 9 are government schools. This year too, 30 schools have zero/nil result (sic) out of which 24 are government schools and 4 private schools. 2 government schools did not present candidates for the HSLC examination,” it informed.
The performance of government schools with success percentage of 40.77% this year was worse than last year’s 42.60 %. There were 940 students to secure 80% and above marks percentage; seven were from government schools.
Again, girls fared better in HSSLC exam. “The girls pass percentage at the HSSLC Examination 2018 stand at 79.87% and the boys at 70.44%. 4 institutions under Arts stream, 3 institutions under Science stream and 3 institutions under Commerce stream secured 100% pass result. 1 private institution of commerce stream got zero/nil result (sic),” the NBSE informed.
The toppers were: Benrithung L Jungio of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Wokha in Arts; Marina Yashmin of Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School,Dimapur in Commerce; and Virienuo Emilia Solo of Kohima Science College, Jotsoma in Science.
