Kohima, Aug. 1 (EMN): As the number of Covid-19 active cases continues to increase in Nagaland, with the tally standing at 1823, including 1182 active cases till date (August 1), some could be anxious to know the kind of medical treatment the patients are given at the Covid-19 hospitals in the state.
Here is what patients undergoing treatment at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) have to say:
The Covid-19 patients at the NHAK said that they are being treated with antacid and anti-malarial medicines and a multi-vitamin, daily with breakfast and dinner.
The new patients are given a strip of Aciloc 150 and Hydroxychloroquine (HCQS-200) for a five-day course, along with a vitamin-mineral supplement containing 180 tablets.
A patient informed Eastern Mirror that he takes one tablet of Aciloc right after breakfast, a tablet of Hydroxychloroquine twice a day, and a vitamin pill daily as prescribed by the doctors.
One of the patients informed that they don't continue the medication after five days, but continues to take the multi-vitamin supplement. It has enough vitamins and minerals, usually taken by expectant mothers, it was informed.
A doctor informed that even male patients can take it since it is a multi vitamin-mineral pill.
At NHAK Covid-19 hospital, the patients are also asked to wear masks, maintain social distance and follow hospital protocols.
Meanwhile, breakfast is served at 9 am and dinner at 7 pm daily to the patients. The regular menu for breakfast includes rice, daal with fried potatoes, soya chunks and chutney; while fish, egg, chicken and sometimes pork and chutney are on the usual dinner menu.
Some snacks, and a small packet each of milk and sugar with two tea bags are provided, from which the inmates make their own cups of tea.
Daily, one litre of packaged drinking water is provided to the patients while there is 24x7 running tap water facility. The patients are also advised to stay hydrated.
