Nagaland House New Delhi held a farewell programme for Joint Director of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Hentok Phom.
DIMAPUR — A farewell programme was held in honour of the Joint Director of Health and Family Welfare and SMO of Nagaland House, New Delhi, Dr. Hentok Phom, at the conference hall of Nagaland State Guest House, R K Puram, New Delhi, on August 25.
According to a DIPR report, Joint Resident Commissioner Sharon Longchari, commending Dr. Phom’s contribution to the Naga community in Delhi, spanning almost 25 years, highlighted that his dedication helped in creating and establishing an ecosystem and network, helping patients from Nagaland connect with coordinators and access medical treatments in top hospitals in Delhi.
She credited Dr. Phom for setting in place a systematic process in completing necessary paperwork and embalming of bodies before sending them home during unfortunate cases of death, greatly easing the burden on families. She added that the system he created will continue to benefit those who come to Delhi for medical treatment.
Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations and Senior PRO Kuolie Mere, appreciating Dr. Phom’s work in Delhi, pointed out that due to his supervision, 19 hospitals in Delhi NCR had been empanelled under the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme. He added that through Dr. Phom's initiative, a platform was created in 2014, managed by the students' union, where volunteers can donate blood and help patients in need.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Phom recollected his years in Delhi serving as a medical officer and mentioned that the best part for him was the community. He added that one of his priorities when he first joined Nagaland House, New Delhi, in 2002 was to serve the staff.
Other officers and staff also expressed their gratitude and shared their experiences working with Dr. Phom, who will now join the National Health Mission, Kohima, as State Programme Officer.
