Dimapur, Sep. 6 (EMN): Alarmed at the increasing rate of tobacco abuse among school-going students, the school management along with the tobacco control committee of Hornbill School, Chekiye village, Dimapur, organised anti–tobacco awareness programme for the staff and students in the school auditorium on September 4.
Resource persons Imkumla Aier and Medo from National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) have highlighted on the dangers of tobacco use in children and adults. They have also pointed out on various laws in place to control tobacco abuse.
The programme, chaired by Kiyezhe Sumi, assistant headmaster, was organised with an aim to reaffirm the school’s tobacco-free status to its fullest extent, MK Jana, DTCC member and chairman of the School Tobacco Control Committee stated in a press release.
Meanwhile, the school authority expressed gratitude to Dr. Tetseo, District Nodal Officer of the District Tobacco Control Cell, Dimapur, for extending support in order to make the programme a success.
