Gauhati High Court fixes September 29 hearing in Reny Wilfred case and rules out further adjournment for NSCW
DIMAPUR — The Kohima Bench of Gauhati High Court has fixed September 29 for hearing a criminal revision petition filed by Nagaland government official Reny Wilfred, with the court making it clear that no further adjournment will be granted to the Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW).
The order came on Tuesday after counsel for NSCW chairperson W Nginyeih Konyak sought another adjournment on behalf of lead counsel Vrinda Grover, citing her personal difficulties. Justice Yarenjungla Longkumer allowed the request but directed that there would be no further adjournment on behalf of the respondent.
The court further directed that if Grover is unable to appear on September 29, any of the other counsels representing Konyak whose names appear in the causelist would have to argue the matter.
Wilfred, currently Joint Secretary in the Finance Department, has filed the criminal revision petition challenging proceedings arising from the sexual harassment case registered against him.

The case traces back to a complaint forwarded by the NSCW to Nagaland Police in March 2025 following allegations of sexual and mental harassment of women employees during Wilfred’s tenure with the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN).
Police subsequently registered a case and constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT). A chargesheet was filed on June 30, 2025, following an investigation that included statements from the women employees and other witnesses.
The High Court had in December 2025 dismissed Wilfred’s petition seeking to quash the criminal proceedings and chargesheet, holding that there was sufficient prima facie material for the case to proceed. The court had noted that statements of 10 women employees, the preliminary inquiry report and other investigation material disclosed a prima facie case.
Wilfred subsequently approached the High Court again through the present criminal revision petition, which was admitted in May 2026. The petition challenges various proceedings and orders connected with the case, including the police preliminary inquiry, FIR, chargesheet and subsequent court proceedings.
