- KOHIMA — In Nagaland, a total of 1,461 women were
assisted under the Sambal programme/scheme of Mission Shakti as of January
2025. This was stated in a reply on Friday by the Minister of State, Ministry
of Women and Child Development, Savitri Thakur.
- She mentioned that a total of 11 one-stop centres (OSCs) are
operational in the state.
- The OSC is a component of the Sambal vertical under the
umbrella of Mission Shakti. It provides integrated support and assistance under
one roof to women affected by violence and those in distress, both in private
and public spaces.
- It also provides services such as medical aid, legal aid and
advice, temporary shelter, police assistance, and psycho-social counselling to
women in need, the Minister of State added.
- As of today, 812 OSCs are operational across the country.
The centres have assisted over 10.80 lakh women as of January 31. It has also
made provisions for the hiring of dedicated emergency vehicles for the OSCs,
she informed.
