Dimapur, May 13 (EMN): People of Nagaland are being forced to spend INR 100 instead of INR 10 and INR 20 due to non availability of Indian non-judicial stamp papers of INR 10, INR 20 and INR 50 denominations.
According to a press release from the Notaries Association of Nagaland, the Indian non-judicial stamp papers of said denominations have not been issued to the treasury offices in Nagaland since 2017. This is “compelling” the public to pay INR 100, it stated.
The association also cited “a reliable source” as having said that stamp papers of INR 500 and INR 1000 denominations were also unavailable since 2018 in the treasury offices in Nagaland, which has led to the “pending and paralysis of sale deeds or gift deed of land for mutation.”
It further stated that non-judicial stamp papers and court fees of INR 5000 and INR 10,000 denominations have not been available since the very beginning in the state, causing inconvenience to the public in matters of large transactions.
