Kohima, Sep. 23 (EMN): The Nagaland government on Wednesday revoked the Covid-19 cess on petroleum products after more than four months of its imposition in the state.
The state’s spokesperson for Covid-19, also minister for Planning & Coordination, Neiba Kronu, informed that the Nagaland Cabinet has decided to revoke the cess, following a meeting that was conducted on September 23.
The total amount of revenue that was collected from April to July 2020 from Covid-19 cess was INR 10.32 crore.
As for the month of August, the collections are yet to be deposited, he informed.
It may be mentioned that Nagaland had imposed a ‘Covid-19 cess’ of INR 5 per litre on diesel and INR 6 per litre on petrol and other motor spirits with effect from midnight of April 28.
