Nagaland govt. releases INR 10 lakh ex-gratia relief to family of frontline worker who died of Covid-19

Kohima, Aug. 28 (EMN): The government of Nagaland has released an ex-gratia relief of INR 10 lakh to the family of a frontline worker from the state who died due to Covid-19 while performing his duty.

A letter from the secretary to the government of Nagaland on Friday, addressing to the deputy commissioner and chairman of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Mon, stated that the amount had been credited to the DDMA account on August 27 as ex-gratia payment in respect of a person who passed away due to Covid-19 while performing his duty.

The letter also requested the deputy commissioner and chairman of DDMA Mon to send back the actual payee receipt and utilisation certificate.

Chief Secretary of Nagaland Temjen Toy had released a notification on April 20, announcing that any employee of the Nagaland government, including any personnel of Nagaland Police and the urban local bodies in the state, who suffers fatality due to Covid-19 while performing frontline duties, will be paid an ex gratia amount of INR 10 lakh by the state government.
