Dimapur, Sep. 7 (EMN): Nagaland government has constituted the Nagaland Consumer Protection Council (NCPC) headed by the minister-in-charge of Consumer Affairs as the chairman and additional controller and HoD of LM&CP as member secretary.
According to a DIPR report, the other members would included advisor of LM&CP; president of Nagaland Volunteer Consumer Organsation (NVCO); chairman of Kohima Municipal Council; commissioner and secretary of IPR; president of Kohima Chamber of Commerce; chairperson of Naga Mother's Association; secretary of LM&CP, and a nominee from the department of Consumer Affairs, GoI.
The objective of the state council was to render advice on the promotion and protection of consumer rights under the Act within the state.
The council would meet as and when necessary but not less than two meetings would be held every year.
“The State Council shall meet at such time and place as the Chairperson may think fit and shall observe such procedure regarding the transaction of its business, as may be prescribed,” it stated.
