Dimapur, July 6 (EMN): The Nagaland government will follow the Central Civil Services (Leave) Rules of 1972, for which paternity leave for the state’s government employees, males, will be for a period of 15 days.

The highlights:
• The state government of Nagaland will follow the Central Civil Services (Leave) Rules, 1972.
• As per the existing CCS (Leave) Rules, 1972, a male state government employee, including apprentices with fewer than two surviving children, will be granted paternity leave by a competent authority.
• Paternity leave will be granted for a period of 15 days, during the confinement of his wife for childbirth up to 15 days before, or up to six months from the date of delivery of the child.
• During such period of 15 days, he shall be paid leave salary equal to the pay drawn before proceeding on leave.
• The paternity leave may be combined with leave of any other kind and shall not be debited against the leave account.
• The paternity leave shall be treated as lapsed if not availed within the period.
