DIMAPUR — Governor of Nagaland Nand Kishore Yadav visited Tuophema village in Kohima district on Monday, where he experienced the village’s rich cultural heritage, traditional practices and community-based tourism initiatives.
Yadav was accorded a warm welcome by the villagers. During the visit, womenfolk of Tuophema presented a traditional weaving demonstration at the Naga Kitchen, giving the governor an opportunity to witness the village’s indigenous weaving traditions and craftsmanship, according to a press release issued by the PRO, Lok Bhavan, Kohima.
As part of the tour, Yadav visited several cultural and community attractions, including Kharu, Tuophema Amphitheatre, the ancestral Kense’s Hut, Tuophezhu Hall and the Regional Craft and Resource Centre.

The visit showcased Tuophema’s efforts to preserve its cultural heritage while promoting sustainable tourism, local crafts and livelihood opportunities for the community.
It also highlighted the village’s distinctive blend of cultural heritage, traditional practices, natural resources and community-led tourism initiatives, reflecting its commitment to preserving its traditions while creating sustainable opportunities for local residents, the release stated.
