Dimapur, Dec. 10 (EMN): Just two weeks after the two-day winter session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) was adjourned sine die, Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi on Friday summoned a special Assembly session on December 20.
“The Hon'ble Governor of Nagaland, in exercise of the powers conferred by
Clause (1) of Article 174 of the Constitution of India, has summoned the Tenth
Session of the Thirteenth Nagaland Legislative Assembly to meet at 9:30 A.M. on
Monday, the 20th December, 2021, at 9:30 A.M. in the Assembly Hall, Kohima,” read the press release from NLA Secretariat.
The Minister for Planning and Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu had on Thursday announced that the core committee had decided to conduct a special Assembly session at a meeting held in Kohima on the same day.
The move came amid growing demand for conducting a special session to adopt a resolution for revocation of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) after the Mon firing incidents that killed 14 civilians.
The Assembly is also expected to discuss the vexed Naga political issue besides the controversial AFSPA.
