Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla reviews NH-29 works in Nagaland; stresses drainage, truck monitoring, and timely project completion.

DIMAPUR — Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Friday convened a coordination meeting at Raj Bhavan to review the status of works along the Kohima–Dimapur National Highway (NH-29).
A Raj Bhavan press release informed that the review covered the ongoing projects on the Peren–Dimapur, Kohima–Jessami, Kohima–Mao and Dimapur–Kohima stretches.
Officials from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and the Public Works Department (NH) made a detailed presentation on the progress achieved and the challenges faced in these portions, it stated.
The governor underlined the need for exploring alternate connectivity in affected areas and stressed the importance of proper drainage and sewage systems to ensure long-term road sustainability.

He also called for strict monitoring of overloaded trucks, particularly on the Nagaland–Manipur highway, and urged all departments concerned and agencies to work in close coordination for timely completion of the projects.
Commissioner and Secretary of PWD, Kesonyu Yhome, apprised the governor of specific locations where the state government is undertaking management works.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from NHIDCL, NPWD, National Highways, Police and district administrations, including ADGP (Law and Order) Sandeep Tamgadge, Commissioner of Police Dimapur Aotula T Imchen, and the respective deputy commissioners of Kohima and Chümoukedima.
