Governor and chief minister express grief over Mon landslide, assure ex gratia, relief and support for affected families statewide
DIMAPUR — Governor Nand Kishore Yadav and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Sunday expressed grief over the devastating landslide in Mon district that claimed several lives and caused extensive damage to property and infrastructure.
In a statement, the governor conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. He also wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the incident.
Acknowledging the ongoing rescue efforts, Yadav commended the district administration, Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Nagaland Police, Assam Rifles, medical personnel and other agencies involved in search, rescue and relief operations.
He appealed to the public to remain vigilant and strictly follow official advisories issued in view of the continuing adverse weather conditions.

Chief Minister Rio also expressed sorrow over the tragedy, describing the reports from Mon as "deeply distressing."
In a post on X, Rio extended his condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones and said the state government was closely monitoring the evolving situation.
He said the NSDMA, district administration, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), SDRF, Nagaland Police, Assam Rifles and local communities were working on the ground to carry out search and rescue operations.
The chief minister further assured that the government would provide immediate ex gratia assistance to the families of the deceased and extend relief to all those affected by the disaster.
