Nand Kishore Yadav urged stronger coordination among departments to improve women-centric programmes, livelihood opportunities and entrepreneurship.
DIMAPUR — Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav on Monday called for stronger convergence among government departments and stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of women-centric programmes and create sustainable economic opportunities for women across the state.
Chairing a review meeting with the Department of Women Resource Development at Lok Bhavan, Kohima, Yadav lauded the department's efforts in empowering women through skill development, entrepreneurship promotion and livelihood generation.
He urged officials to continue strengthening initiatives aimed at improving the socio-economic status of women in Nagaland, the PRO, Lok Bhavan stated in a press release.
The meeting reviewed the department's key programmes, including the Transformative Livelihood Intervention (TLI) project, protection and promotion of tribal designs, Myki activities, the Multi Training Centre, the Integrated Development-cum-Resource Centre (IDRC), the District Resource and Development Programme (DRDP), and various entrepreneurship and skill development initiatives benefiting women across the state.
The department also briefed the governor on the proposed Myki Hub at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, which is intended to provide a permanent marketplace for women entrepreneurs, artisans and farmers while promoting both traditional and contemporary products.

Supported under the Chief Minister's Innovative Programme Fund, the project is expected to be completed by November 2026.
The meeting further reviewed the construction of working women hostels in various districts under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) initiative, along with ongoing efforts to expand women resource centres, strengthen livelihood interventions and improve market linkages for women entrepreneurs.
Officials informed the governor about challenges posed by limited financial resources and manpower, stressing the need for greater support to expand programmes aimed at enhancing women's livelihoods across Nagaland.
Yadav emphasised the importance of ensuring the effective implementation of all schemes and initiatives while encouraging the department to continue working towards inclusive and sustainable development for women in the state.
