Nagaland government sets up enquiry committee to probe PMAYG implementation

DIMAPUR— The government of Nagaland has set up a Departmental Enquiry Committee to probe allegations levelled against the Rural Development department on the implementation of Center’s housing scheme Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana Gramin (PMAYG) and misappropriation of fund in the state.

The committee comprises of four members with Neposo Theluo, Commissioner and Secretary, RD, as Chairman and Arenla Longkumer, Deputy Secretary, RD as member secretary. The other two members are Manhom Konyak, Deputy Director, DRDBs, and Vikerhe Venyo, Executive Engineer, DRDBs, according to the department’s notification issued on July 12.

It stated that the committee will ascertain the exact period and the amount mentioned in the allegation, i.e. fund received from the Central and state governments and the fund utilised under the programme; examine the mode and manner through which the PMAY-G is implemented; cross check all the relevant records pertaining to implementation of the scheme with special reference to target of 2016-17 to 2019-20; and identify lapses in the course of implementing the programme or suggest measures to improve its implementation.

“The Committee shall submit its report within 30 days from the date of issue of notification,” said the department.
