DIMAPUR — Nagaland government has directed all vehicles, both government and private, to remove unauthorised flags, emblems, names, symbols, stickers, seals and logos from registration plates within 45 days, warning that strict action will be taken against defaulters.
The directive was issued by Commissioner and Secretary, Transport, Robert Longchari, following instructions from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for strict enforcement of Rule 50 and Rule 51 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
According to the notification, the rules govern the form, manner and size of registration marks on motor vehicles across the country. Rule 50 mandates the use of High Security Registration Plates (HSRP), while Rule 51 specifies the dimensions and colour scheme for letters and numbers.
The department stated that any deviation from the prescribed format, including the display of unauthorised markings on number plates, will attract action under the relevant provisions.
