Dimapur, Aug. 20 (EMN): The government of Nagaland has contributed INR 20 lakh as flood relief to Kodagu in Karnataka, the home state of the governor of Nagaland PB Acharya.
During a meeting with editors of vernacular newspapers in Nagaland on Monday at Chumukedima, Acharya informed that the donation was made after he had requested the Nagaland government, according to a DIPR report. The governor also contributed INR five lakh as his contribution.
“Reiterating that all are equal in a democracy, irrespective of community or the size of population, Acharya observed that newspapers as the fourth estate could play a wonderful role in changing the mindset of the society.
“Emphasising on the importance of local dialect, governor said that eight universities including three from his home town have started teaching tribal dialect after he took over as governor,” the report read.
