DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Pencak Silat Girls Team delivered an outstanding performance to emerge ‘Runners-up Champion’at the ASMITA Khelo India Pencak Silat League 2026 (East Zone) held in Jharsuguda, Odisha, on March 7 and 8.
Nagaland took home a total of 18 medals, including 8 Gold, 2 Silver and 8 Bronze to finish second overall Champion in the prestigious league, said a delayed update received on Tuesday.
The Odisha Pencak Silat Team emerged as the overall champion with 80 medals (23 Gold, 27 Silver, and 30 Bronze).
The Nagaland contingent displayed exceptional discipline, skill, determination and sportsmanship throughout the competition that saw participation of 650 athletes from 12 states, including Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and Sikkim, said the update, adding that it was reflected in the state’s impressive medal haul.
The league was organised under the supervision of the Indian Pencak Silat Federation in association with the Odisha Pencak Silat Association, and was supported by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, under the Khelo India initiative. It was aimed at promoting women’s participation in sports.

The event was officiated by a team led by Coach Deep Kumar, and referees Kuhoshe Sumi and Retuwn Philio Anal,who represented the Nagaland Pencak Silat Association.
• 8 Gold Medal Winners in Tanding (Sparring): Tina Thapa, Liike Kibami, Avikali V. Sheqi, Nyia K. Thono, Hatneinem Khongsai, ImtichilaPongen, Heile Kath and Nishepe Zhimomi.
• 2 Silver Medal Winners: Juli Tsuqu in Tanding; Mughatoli Awomi, Vinikali Zhimomi and PulotoliShohe in Regu (Group Event)
• 8 Bronze Medal Winners in Ganda (Pair Event): Sub- Junior Category-Shenla Kinimi and Heile Kath; Senior Category-Liike Kibami and Hatneinem Khongsai; Regu (Group Event) in Sub-Junior Category- Shenla Kinimi, Liniu T. Chishi and Heile Kath; Regu (Group Event) in Senior Category-Liike Kibami, Avikali V. Sheqi and Nyia K. Thono.
• 2 Bronze Medal Winners: Nishepe Zhimomi in Creative Solo; Tunggal in Macan Category.
