DIMAPUR — With the completion of emergency road repairing works between Dimapur-Niuland-Kohima via Ghotovi village/ Zadima, Ghotovi Village Council (GVC) has informed the commuters using National Highway 29 to consider using the route for emergency situation.
An update from GVC stated that the road repairing works spanned from zero point in Niuland to 16 km in the Dimapur division. The work was undertaken from July 5 to the 10th under the initiative of Sara Jamir, deputy commissioner of Niuland, in collaboration of the executive engineer of PWD (R&B), Inahoto and under the supervision of junior engineer, Vinoto Zhimomi.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Meanwhile, GVC has appealed to the state government to allocate emergency funds for repairing of side drain and clearing of jungle. It added that the road (Kohima-Bokajan) serves as the primary lifeline and a shorter route for the districts namely Kohima, Tseminyu, Wokha, Zunheboto, Tuengsang etc.
It further appealed to the state government to ensure proper maintenance and to transform into an "all weather road" considering the hardships faced by the Naga public during natural calamities particularly on National Highway 29.
