Yepthomi says getting the chance to generate new jobs is always a blessing

(Right) H Khehovi Yepthomi unveiling the inaugural plaque of the institute.[/caption] Dimapur, Aug. 30 (EMN): In what could help the young minds in the state to get into the culinary and hospitality industry, State Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Dimapur was inaugurated on August 30. Advisor of Tourism, Art & Culture, H Khehovi Yepthomi unveiled the inaugural plaque of the institute at the event attended by the government officials, public leaders and area councils, informed an update from the department of Information and Public Relations on Friday. Addressing the gathering, Yepthomi said that “after taking over the charge of the department and seeing how it could help the state and the people in terms of developing useful skills and improve economy,” he sees it as “one of a kind opportunity that has been given to the Nagas” in a generation where employment is scarce. Getting the chance to generate new jobs is always a blessing, he said. Yepthomi is optimistic that, through the new institute, tourism and hospitality industry in Nagaland will grow and help in establishing a self-sufficient economy for the people of the state. The goal was not merely to build a big building or to fill it with people but to make a strategic endearment, produce employment and create job opportunities for the state, he added. He also expressed gratitude to all the financial institutions involved in the project and the department officials who put in their sincere effort. He made a special mention of late NY Chishi who was the contractor of the project. Commissioner & Secretary, Tourism, T Mhabemo Yanthan stated that “Nagas having huge resources of local exotic cuisines coming from more than 16 different tribal communities is one of the extraordinary tradition in the culinary sector which can be exported to the outside world.” The organic food and vegetables which are largely found here (Nagaland) will be an added advantage as food with right nutrients is what the world is looking for, he said. He added that innovation and application of “right frame of mind” will help the state excel in this highly competitive professional sector. Regional Director (NE) India Tourism, Guwahati, S S Devbarman told the gathering that hotel management being a technical institution has an important role in developing tourism in the region and the new institute has a tremendous prospect of boosting job opportunity. He also assured all assistance and cooperation on behalf of the ministry on behalf of the Ministry. Executive Engineer, Tourism, Thungdemo Patton in his technical report informed that the Ministry of Tourism funded INR 1269 lakh for the main building, quarters and hostels. He added that the North Eastern Council (NEC) supported in building the approach road, security fencing, filling etc. in the first phase and then constructed the second floor of the building which was needed after hotel management and catering course was introduced. The programme concluded with vote of thanks from Akhale Vizol, Director Tourism.
