Nagaland received INR 63.41 crore under central wildlife conservation schemes between 2021-22 and 2025-26, Parliament was informed Monday
KOHIMA — Nagaland received INR 63.41 crore under two centrally sponsored wildlife conservation schemes between 2021-22 and 2025-26, according to information tabled in Parliament on Monday.
Replying to an unstarred question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Kirti Vardhan Singh, said that the state received INR 48.63 crore under the Development of Wildlife Habitats scheme and INR 14.78 crore under Project Tiger & Elephant during the five-year period.
Under the Development of Wildlife Habitats scheme, Nagaland received INR 3.42 crore in 2021-22, INR 7.26 crore in 2022-23, INR 13.06 crore in 2023-24, INR 14.90 crore in 2024-25 and INR 9.99 crore in 2025-26.
Under Project Tiger & Elephant, Nagaland received INR 2.80 crore in 2021-22, INR 2.36 crore in 2022-23, INR 3.38 crore in 2023-24, INR 3.05 crore in 2024-25 and INR 3.19 crore in 2025-26, taking the total allocation under the scheme to INR 14.78 crore.

The minister said that the Centre implements several centrally sponsored and central sector schemes for the conservation of forests, wildlife and climate change, including the Green India Mission (GIM), Integrated Development of Wildlife Habitats (IDWH), Project Tiger through the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), and the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC).
He added that the National Afforestation Programme (NAP) has been subsumed under the Green India Mission since 2018.
The minister also stated that while these schemes are implemented by state governments through their Forest departments and other designated agencies, it does not maintain district-wise data on works undertaken, employment generated, beneficiaries covered, implementing agencies or forest divisions.
