Kohima, July 8 (EMN): The government of India on Wednesday released a total of INR 6,195.08 crore to 14 states, including Nagaland as the fourth monthly instalment of the post-devolution revenue deficit grant.
Nagaland’s share from the released amount is INR 32641.66 lakh (or INR 326.41 crore).
“The government on July 8, 2020 released INR 6,195.08 crore to 14 states as the fourth equated monthly instalment of post devolution revenue deficit grant as recommended by the 15th Finance Commission”, tweeted Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday.
She further added that the grant would “provide additional resources during the Corona crisis”.
Besides Nagaland, the grant was released to states like Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, and Sikkim.
The amount were released as grants-in-aid to cover deficit on post-devolution revenue account in 2020-21 as recommended by the 15th Finance Commission on monthly proportionate basis to these state governments in the month of July 2020, stated the Finance ministry.
