- KOHIMA — A total
of INR 1,227 crore has been allocated for development and maintenance works on
national highways in Nagaland during 2024-25, Union Minister for Road Transport
and Highways Nitin Gadkari stated in a reply during the Lok Sabha session on
March 27.
- Giving further updates on the ongoing projects, he stated
that 36 NH projects are under construction in the state. The total length is
755 km, and the cost is INR 10,151 crore.
- Three NH projects having 55 km (length) and costing INR 656
crore have been completed during 2024-25.
- Five national highway projects measuring 62 km and costing
INR 331 crore in Nagaland have been approved but are yet to be commenced.

- He added that the completion of NH projects depends on the
availability of encumbrance-free land, forest clearance, environmental
clearance, utility shifting, working season, contractor's financial position,
etc.
- All the under-construction NH projects in the states of
Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur and Tripura are scheduled to be
completed by 2028, the union minister informed.
