Kohima, March 21 (EMN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Monday stated that the state revenue generation through CGST, SGST and IGST for the years 2018 till 2021 is INR 2062.57 crore.
In a starred question replied to MLA Kuzholuzo Nienu, Rio also informed that these revenues form part of the consolidated fund of the state and are utilised for financing the budgeted expenditure such as salaries, pensions, debt servicing and other activities of the state government.
Meanwhile, Nienu in his supplementary question, urged the leader of the house to emphasise on the collection of Goods and Services Taxes (GST), stating that Nagaland is the only non-revenue generating state, and GST may be the only source of income for the state.
Further, he also told the government to keep proper mechanisms to check the manipulations.
Whereas, the chief minister said that with the introduction of GST- the revenue collection of the Central GST or State GST has improved.
He maintained that the GST is paid online in the state and the manipulation has come down drastically, while adding that specific complaints would be looked into, if any.
Nienu raised another supplementary question on whether there is any mechanism in place to check the industries on the border selling their finished goods for their integrated GST. Rio replied that the state IGST was levied on interstate supplies.
He added that the revenue under IGST is the state GST component and onwards supply to the states. He further said “the movement is through the RBI Act” of the accounting of all GST receipts and is also responsible for fund transfer to the Central government and the state government.
