- DIMAPUR — Nagaland
Gaon Bura Federation (NGBF), while welcoming the Naga Hoho statement for an
early solution and lasting peace, urged the negotiating teams to come to a
common platform to solve the Naga political issue.
- “The future of the Naga society cannot be subjected to the
nefarious whims of those seeking to divide and fragment us but should focus on
confidence-building measures to enhance brotherhood and camaraderie,” the federation
stated.
- It also urged the Naga people to “carry out the deep-dive
study, compare and contrast to deliberate both the mutually accepted agreement
namely the Framework Agreement (FA) and Agreed Position (AP) which will best
serve the interest of the Naga people.”
- While expressing concern to see the ever-widening divide in
the Naga society today, the federation stated that Naga people could ill-afford
during this critical juncture of the long political journey which has been
sustained with blood, sweat and tears beyond borders by all the Nagas. It
pointed out that the palpable differences in ideology and approach among the
groups is doing the Naga society more harm than good despite all that they have
achieved in different negotiating tables.
- NGBF has stressed the need to find the best possible path
and solution for the Nagas in the present contemporary political circumstances
without losing the unique political history of the Nagas for lasting peace in
the region.
- It felt that unless both the agreements are compiled in the
form of common draft in the true spirit of Naga unity and public aspiration for
permanent peace in all Naga inhabited areas, the solution to the Naga issue
would elude the people.
- Meanwhile, the federation appealed to Narendra Modi-led
government to show political will to conclude the Naga political issue.
