Thirty candidates from Nagaland have been selected for UPSC coaching at Vajiram & Ravi, New Delhi, under a government-supported programme.
DIMAPUR — The Planning & Transformation Department organised an orientation programme for 30 candidates selected for UPSC coaching at Vajiram & Ravi, New Delhi, at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Conference Hall, Kohima, on August 10.
Principal Secretary and Development Commissioner Y Kikheto Sema, addressing the selected candidates, said that although they were currently students, he viewed them as future officers and leaders who would play an important role in leading the state and serving the people.
He urged the candidates to trust in God, respect their parents and elders, study diligently and manage their time effectively.
Emphasising that success comes through hard work and perseverance, Sema encouraged them to remain disciplined and committed throughout their preparation.
Sema said the state government had been supporting indigenous students preparing for competitive examinations, including the UPSC Civil Services Examination, under the Chief Minister’s Corpus Fund (CMCF) for the past four years.
Including the current year, approximately INR 277 lakh has been spent on sponsoring students for such coaching programmes.
He said the government remained committed to investing in the youth and future generations of Nagaland.
Despite resource constraints, he added, the government would continue to invest in education and capacity building to build a transformed society based on peace and prosperity.
For the current batch of candidates selected for UPSC coaching at Vajiram & Ravi, INR 64.5 lakh has been earmarked, Sema informed.
He said the candidates were selected through a merit-based process following an examination conducted on July 25 on the UPSC pattern.
The department will closely monitor their attendance and performance during the coaching period, with a minimum attendance requirement of 90 per cent.
Calling the candidates an investment in the future of Nagaland, Sema urged them to make the best use of the opportunity and bring honour and glory to their parents, communities and the state.
Joint Development Commissioner Heinswading congratulated the candidates on their selection and urged them to make full use of the opportunity provided by the government.
He informed that around 120 candidates had appeared for the selection examination, of whom 30 were selected for the programme.
He said coaching at Vajiram & Ravi, one of the premier civil services preparation institutes in the country, would provide the candidates with a valuable platform to learn, compete and interact with aspirants from across the country.
Heinswading urged the candidates to approach the programme with sincerity, discipline and a strong sense of responsibility.
He appreciated the Government of Nagaland for investing in the aspirations of the state’s youth and providing them with an opportunity to pursue their goals.
The programme also included the signing of undertakings by the selected candidates, followed by an interactive session featuring questions and answers, experience-sharing and discussions on concerns raised by the candidates.
The selected candidates expressed gratitude to the Government of Nagaland and the Planning & Transformation Department for providing them with the opportunity to undergo UPSC coaching.
They pledged to make the best use of the opportunity and put in sincere efforts towards achieving their goals and contributing to the service of the state and the nation.
