Dimapur, March 21 (EMN): Four students were felicitated with the Dr. Toshevi Sumi Totimi MBBS Award for securing MBBS seat through NEET 2021 on March 18.
The students are Avili Swu, Sulika Zhimomi, Vitunali L Awomi, and Hikili Q Aye.
The annual award ceremony, which is in its 4th edition, was held at Hotel De Oriental Grand in Kohima.
Lhotoi Awomi spoke on behalf of the families of the awardees, an update stated.
It may be mentioned that the Dr. Toshevi Sumi Totimi MBBS Award is an initiative of Dr. Toshevi Keditsu Sema, the first woman doctor from the Sumi tribe of Nagaland. She completed her MBBS in 1977 from Guwahati Medical College.
It said that the award is conferred by the Dr. K&T Keditsu Foundation in collaboration with Sumi Totimi Hoho, Nagaland, and presented annually to Sumi women who qualify to study graduate medical course (MBBS) though the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in India.
This award comprises a certificate and cash prize of INR 2, 00,000.
Piholi Swenetho, president of Sumi Totimi Hoho Kohima, Khevito Shohe, president of Sumi Hoho, Kohima spoke on behalf of their respective organisations.
Associate Pastor, Sumi Baptist Church Kohima, Kuholi Chishi Achumi pronounced a prayer of blessing for the awardees. The Aeterna Chorale, under the direction of James Swu presented a message in song.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Kuholi Chishi, Rtd. director, Higher Education.
