Dimapur, Nov. 4 (EMN): A two-day 'business summit' of the National Innovate, Integrate, Expand (NIIE) Trade Fair, organised by the Business Association of Nagas (BAN) and supported by Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), got underway on Friday, at administrative block, NER Agri Expo, Dimapur.
An update informed that the moderator of the first session, BAN general secretary and chief executive of Pinnacle Skill, Dr. Yan Murry, in his remark stated that the summit would include brainstorming sessions on what the stakeholders, policymakers and entrepreneurs could do to create jobs and employ people in the state.
Joint Secretary and mission director of Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM), Imtimenla, in her keynote address stated that there was more concern for the youth and their future, especially with unemployment issue plaguing the society.
CEO, NBOCWWB, assistant labour commissioner, T Chubayanger, stated that many youths were skilled but were not employable since there are many factors affecting skilled youths such as commitment to work.
CEO of ELS International, Achen Imchen, stressed on how the government needs to conduct more awareness programmes with the local employers because Naga boys are very talented and fast learners and sending them outside is a "big loss."
Nagaland Contractors Suppliers Union president, Pele Khezhie stressed on how important it was for Naga youths to be trained properly.
"Our youths are capable and can take up everything if we train and educate them properly", he stated.
Chief operating officer (Skills), NSRLM, Menuoneiuto Chadi and assistant professor, department of Civil Engineering Projects, NIT Nagaland, Dr. Nzan Ngullie, also delivered talks on skilling, entrepreneurship and other prospects under employment opportunities.
In the second session, the topics focused on agriculture and tourism integration, infield traditional farming experience, agriculture logistics and air cargo and connectivity.
Additional Development Commissioner, Ministry of MSME, Dr. Ishita Ganguli Tripathy, stated that the Udyam certificate was the basic certificate required to identify an enterprise as an MSME. She stated that this was important for any enterprise in order to avail the benefits under the schemes.
Dr. Ishita opined that policy combination could be as dynamic as possible if stakeholders could make their contributions. She remarked that MSME Nagaland has a "huge potential" and in order to make sure that this potential actually becomes reality, she suggested the creation of more awareness.
Founder, Agri Tourism Development Corporation, Maharashtra, Pandurang Taware in his talk stressed on how important it was for farmers and entrepreneurs to have excellent knowledge about their respective states.
"Other states do not have as much medicinal plants as Nagaland, Nagaland has good soil, good agri climate,” he stated, and stressed on how the people had opportunities right outside their homes, which could be used to farm for self-sustenance.
Later, BAN finance secretary, Ababe Ezung, informed that BAN has been taking steps to act as a medium so that various issues concerning the livelihoods of farmers, entrepreneurship, etc. could be addressed and effectively resolved through discourses.
During the second session, deputy director, Tourism department, Tiarenla Rutsa, stated that of late, the Tourism department has been focusing on agriculture, handloom and handicraft and homestays.
Senior Divisional Operations Manager, Lumding Division, Northeast Frontier Railway, Deepak Kumar Murmu, and postmaster general NE-II, Som Kamei, spoke on workings of the NFR and department of Posts respectively.
