Five NPP MLAs merge with NPF in Nagaland, strengthening the regional party under Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio’s leadership

DIMAPUR — Five elected members of National People's Party (NPP) in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) have merged with the Naga People's Front (NPF).
The merger took place in Dimapur on Thursday in the presence of Chief Minister and NPF President Neiphiu Rio, NPF Secretary General Achumbemo Kikon and other senior party leaders, an NPF press communiqué stated.
The five legislators subsequently appeared before the Speaker of NLA and submitted documents pertaining to their merger, it stated.
The MLAs are A Nyamnyei Konyak (48 Moka Assembly Constituency), Nuklutoshi (22 Arkakong AC), C Kipili Sangtam (59 Seyochung-Sitimi AC), Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso (9 Kohima Town AC) and Benei M Lamthiu (57 Thonoknyu AC).
According to the NPF, the five legislators said they had voluntarily joined the party and expressed confidence in Rio’s leadership. They also said they subscribed to the NPF’s ideology and policies.
Rio described their decision to join the NPF as a welcome step that would further strengthen the regional party.
