DIMAPUR — The
Finance department, in an office memorandum, has issued assignment of
responsibilities at district level for facilitation to enable beneficiaries to
claims benefits under accidental insurance coverage through Chief Minister's
Life Insurance Scheme (CMLIS).
The guidelines are issued to facilitate the nominees of
breadwinners and dependents to process the claims under CMLIS during the
unfortunate events of accidents including snake bites, road accidents, falling
from tree, drowning etc.
In case of postmortem report, it informed that the report
should suffice and be enclosed with claim. It added that wherever postmortem
could not be conducted due to lack of infrastructure in the locality or due to
concerns/ restrictions of customary practices, the district administration
should conduct an enquiry into the matter and submit a report as part of the
CMLIS claims.
It stated that wherever the body has been buried and
information reached the district administration subsequently, the concerned
administrative officer, having the charge of the sub-division, should conduct
an enquiry to understand the veracity of the claim and submit the report either
concurring or disapproving the circumstances associated with the accident with
observations.
It added that in instances where the family members have
reported in time and the body not buried, the report should be submitted by the
concerned administrative officer with due verification and observations.
