
Dimapur, March 16 (EMN): Healthcare workers including the Accredited Social Health Activists (Asha) and Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANM) in various districts of Nagaland were felicitated for their commendable performance on the occasion of ‘National Vaccination Day’ on March 16.
The day was observed on the theme ‘Vaccines work for all.’
The ‘National Vaccination Day’ is observed not only to spread awareness on the importance of vaccination but also to celebrate India’s victory over polio virus. The day was observed by felicitating the best performing healthcare workers in all the districts.

Kohima: Office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Kohima, felicitated 12 Asha and seven ANM during a programme held in its conference hall on the occasion ‘National Vaccination Day.’ The event was jointly organised by the CMO office along with the District Health Society under the department of Health and Family Welfare.
Delivering the keynote address, the CMO Dr. Vezokholu Theyo spoke about Corbevax vaccine launched for 12-14 years age group at NHAK. She informed that the vaccine would be presently available only in the government Covid-19 vaccination centre.
She added that the ‘National Vaccination Day’ is celebrated to felicitate those frontline workers, who have rendered their services during the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI), NID vaccination services and community mobilisation efforts in 2022. She further encouraged the awardees to be more prompt in rendering their services for the community in the days to come.
Dimapur: Office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Dimapur, has felicitated 12 Asha and six ANM with certificates on the occasion of ‘National Vaccination Day’ held in its conference hall on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the CMO Dr. I Moatemjen congratulated the award winners and highlighted the importance and significance of grassroots workers. He stated that the country’s health system and policy is planned and designed as per the reports of those healthcare workers at the primary level. Also highlighting the importance of vaccination, he urged the Asha and ANM to continue mobilising the public by emphasising on the new Covid vaccination.
The CMO gave away the certificates to the awardees. He also launched the Covid-19 vaccination for the age group of 12 to 14 years. This age group of children would be administered with Corbevax vaccine, an update from the CMO office stated.
Mokokchung: A total of six ANM and 12 Asha were felicitated for their outstanding performance on the occasion of ‘National Vaccination Day’ in Mokokchung, which was observed in the conference hall of the chief medical officer (CMO).
Dr. Ayangla Saku, DPO (UIP&RCH), who also chaired the programme, congratulated the best performing ANM and Asha and briefed about the significance of observing the day, while the deputy CMO, Dr. Aonungdok, has apprised the hard work of the scientists responsible for the vaccines available till date.
Selected ANM and Asha shared their experiences in vaccination during the pandemic. They shared their experiences on the reluctance of the community for any vaccination and the important role played by Asha in educating the community.
Speaking on the significance of the National Vaccination Day, the CMO of Mokokchung, Dr. R Chubala Aier, stated that the day is observed to create awareness on vaccination to prevent deadly diseases. She further encouraged the ANM and Asha to further extend their hard work in making the community aware of the facilities provided by the government.

Wokha: Wokha district observed the ‘National Vaccination Day’ in the conference hall of the CMO on March 16.
Delivering the keynote address, the deputy CMO, Dr. Zuben Kikon, lauded the efforts of healthcare workers in the vaccination drive and urged them to be diligent in providing better healthcare care services.
Medical officers from Chukitong PHC, Nyiro PHC and Urban Primary Health Centre have briefed the participants on the vaccination status in their respective health centres.
More than 20 healthcare workers from five blocks were awarded with certificates and cash amount for their effort in immunisation activities.
Kiphire: Commemorating the ‘National Vaccination Day,’ office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Kiphire, has felicitated three ANM and three Asha with awards for their outstanding performance.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Pewezo Khalo, (RMNCHA&N), emphasised on the importance of the day and urged the need for vaccination especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. Dr. Khalo acknowledged the NGO and other line departments for their contribution towards creating awareness on vaccination in the district.
He further informed that the medical department, in coordination with NGO and other line departments, would continue to prioritise Covid-19 vaccination activities in the district.

Tuensang: Office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Tuensang, has felicitated eight ANM and 16 Asha from eight different blocks with awards on the occasion of ‘National Vaccination Day’ programme held in its conference hall on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Thungchanbeni, DIO (UIP/RCH), has credited the tireless efforts of ANM and ASHA for all the achievements at the grassroots. She encouraged them to continue working efficiently and consistently in order to provide healthcare coverage to beneficiaries.
Also speaking on the occasion, the deputy CMO, Dr. I Moatemjen, encouraged the Asha and ANM to carry forward their duty with dedication even in the days ahead.
Mon: A total of 20 healthcare workers, 14 Asha and six ANM in Mon district were facilitated on the occasion of ‘National Vaccination Day’ during a programme held on March 16. Short programmes were held in all the six blocks of the district.
Speaking at a programme held at Mon sadar, Dr. Tinenlo James, DTO, stated that the awards were given to healthcare workers in recognition of their services during the IPPI programme. He also encouraged all the staff from grassroots to the top-level to concentrate on their assigned duty.

Peren: The District Health Society, Peren, observed the ‘National Vaccination Day’ at Women Welfare Hall in Jalukie town on March 16 in which eight Asha and five best performing ANM were felicitated during the programme.
The award recipients were given certificates and cash amount for their selfless service towards vaccination drives carried out in the district.
Dr. Keholi, DPO (RCH&UIP), delivered the welcome address, while Dr. Lanuakum Aier, deputy CMO, exhorted the participants with words of appreciation.
