The Konyak Union (KU) has resolved to remain steadfast to the August 26, 2022 resolution of the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) to abstain from participating in upcoming 2023 Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) election until the government of India grants ENPO’s demand for a separate state.
This was resolved at an emergency meeting of the KU held at its conference hall on Wednesday, said the union in a press release.
The KU also informed that the house had resolved to “permanently expel those individual(s) filing nomination to participate in the NLA election, 2023 from the Konyak soil and the village of the person filing nomination shall be held solely responsible”.
‘The KU fully endorsed and empowered the Konyak Nyupu Sheko Khong (KNSK), Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) and village councils, to fully implement and act upon the resolution,’ it stated.
It went on to inform that the Wednesday’s meeting was attended and signed by the chairmen of Konyak villages, apex CSOs, Konyak Union Executive Council members, KU advisory board members, senior leaders and intellectuals.
