A total of 200 nominations were found to be valid after scrutiny on Wednesday, out of 225 candidates who had filed their papers to contest the upcoming Nagaland Assembly election.
According to the data furnished by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Nagaland, nominations of 22 candidates were found to be invalid during the scrutiny process and three candidates namely P Engo Konyak from RPI (A) for 47 Aboi AC, HB Moba from LJP (RV) for 55 Tobu, and T Likhumse Independent for 59 Seyochung-Sitimi had withdrawn their candidatures.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=6]This has left only 200 candidates qualified to contest in the election, though the number could decrease if more candidates pull out of the race on February 10, the last date of withdrawal.
The election to the 60-member state Assembly will be held on February 27 and votes will be counted on March 2.
