DIMAPUR — The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has warned of launching a phase-wise agitation after the state government failed to act on its ultimatum regarding redeployment of teachers to eastern districts of Nagaland.
In a statement issued on Friday, the federation said that the teacher rationalisation exercise carried out on August 22 had resulted in a number of schools in the region being left without subject teachers, as many were transferred out without relievers against sanctioned posts.
It maintained that the absence of teachers was severely hampering students’ academics.

The ENSF recalled that it had submitted a representation to the department on August 26, seeking immediate retention or redeployment of teachers, “only to be left unheeded.”
The representation had set a seven-day deadline, which expired on September 2.
In its September 3 follow-up letter to the commissioner and secretary of School Education, issued to the media on Friday, the federation reiterated its concern.
As the issue remains unresolved, the federation said it was “compelled to exercise its democratic rights” through phase-wise agitation until its concerns are addressed.
