DIMAPUR — The department of Higher Education has announced the completion of full and final disbursement of Post-Matric Scholarship (PMS) for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students for the academic year 2024–25 in Nagaland.

The scholarship scheme, a welfare initiative of the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs, provides financial assistance to eligible ST students whose family income does not exceed INR 2.5 lakh per annum for pursuing higher education from Class XI onwards.

According to the department, the scheme is implemented in Nagaland through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) in a fully digitised manner to ensure transparency and efficiency.

Applications are verified at the institutional and state levels before disbursement through the Aadhaar-Based Payment System (ABPS).

For the academic year 2024–25, a total of 41,793 students were eligible under the scheme, it informed.

In the first phase, the department disbursed a one-time full payment in June 2025 to 22,412 beneficiaries, amounting to INR 3,071.49 lakh.

Following submission of the utilisation certificate, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs sanctioned an additional INR 2,309.91 lakh on October 28, 2025, to cover the remaining students.

Subsequently, the combined central and state share—amounting to INR 2,566.57 lakh—was credited to the Single Nodal Agency (SNA) account on November 10, 2025, and the second and final phase of payment was made on November 11, 2025, to 19,381 remaining beneficiaries, the department stated.

It clarified that the scholarship for all beneficiaries for 2024–25 has been fully disbursed.

Students whose names appear on the second-phase beneficiary list but have not received payments have been advised to ensure that their bank accounts are linked with Aadhaar and enabled for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

The list of beneficiaries is available on the directorate’s website: https://highereducation.nagaland.gov.in.

It further stated that the Post-Matric Scholarship is a centrally sponsored scheme (90:10), jointly funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and the state government, with the state’s share released promptly upon receipt of the central contribution.
